Acne vulgaris treatment is available and can be discussed with a doctor for the best possible way to appropriately treat the condition.
The condition appears in the form of pustules or inflammatory papules. Most commonly, it affects the face, upper back and chest. It is interesting to note that this condition is primarily genetic if both parents had acne at some time in their lives. However poor diet and drugs can cause these symptoms as well.
Most often, it affects people during their adolescence as hormones are at increased levels during this time. Studies have shown that it can effect one race more than another. Different types of the condition can also be more prevalent in one race as opposed to another.
The severity can be so traumatic that it will cause devastating psychological effect. It can lead to permanent physical scarring and be so severe, it will cause fevers, arthritis and other symptoms. Excessive exposure to sunlight can either relieve the condition or aggravate it. This will cause a person to sweat excessively which can cause a flare up of the symptoms.
Treatment comes in many forms. There are topical treatments that are anti inflammatory in nature, antibiotics for those that have no success with the topical treatments and surgical care. It is also important to note that changing dieting habits can help to diminish the symptoms caused by acne. For women, some forms low dose birth control can be effective in the treatment.
There are more serious forms of treatment but are used only as a last resort because of the side effects and expense of the medication. With acne vulgaris treatment, it will usually take 6 to 8 weeks to improve after it begins. Most times, the symptoms will worsen before an improvement in noted.
